Porter Mufflers are considered a “Universal” muffler and can be installed on any car or truck. We offer our standard-length muffler with a 20” body (26” overall with inlets/outlets) and recommend them for the best interior noise suppression when there is sufficient room for installation. We also offer the “Shorty” muffler with a 14” body (20” overall length with inlets/outlets) for those with tighter exhaust clearances or those seeking a slightly louder exhaust note. Use this guide to get the right muffler for you!
When ordering your Porter Mufflers you will need to have this information:
Exhaust Tubing Size – What size tubing does your current (or planned) exhaust system have?
Mounting Room – Will you have enough clearance to mount the standard-length mufflers or will you need “Shortys”? The standard length mufflers need about 26” of length for installation, the “Shortys” need about 20”. Frame rails can cause interference on some vehicles and many muscle cars have short muffler pockets that require an angled installation for standard-length Porter Mufflers.
Materials And Finishes – Do you want your Porter Mufflers in the standard aluminized steel with high-temperature ceramic paint, or do you want the polished 304 stainless-steel versions?
Offset Mufflers – If you are currently using a flat, oval-style turbo muffler and cannot change the existing pipe routing to accommodate the straight Porter Mufflers we do have “Shorty Offset” mufflers to replace them! Determine if you have a 11 Degree or 17 Degree muffler using this illustration;
Shorty Offset Porter Mufflers are available in sizes 2.00” to 3.00”
